‘I would strongly recommend this college for its academic support’
Askham Bryan
I am currently in the third year of the BSc (Hons) Agriculture with Land Management.
The support network from the lecturers is very positive, coupled with the course being very well structured and organised, you can go to them at any time for help and support.
One of the great aspects is that Agriculture and Countryside Management students share some lectures and its very interesting for debate sessions as you appreciate their stance on the wider environment.
For my dissertation I am looking into Catchment Sensitive Farming and its effects on nitrate and phosphate content in river water – due to the support network, not only do I receive help from agriculture lecturers I also receive support from Countryside lecturers, to have this balance of support encourages you to bridge the gap between Agriculture and Countryside management, therefore a well balanced piece of research.
Due to the fact that I would like to progress on to a Masters next year in Environmental Conservation, I strongly feel that this support network will be key to achieving that goal.
I would strongly recommend this college for its academic support alone. Of course the campus itself is well resourced with a recently refurbished Learning Resource Centre, laboratory and an active farm on which students can get involved as much or as little as they choose.
The grounds are very pleasant with a team carrying out daily tasks and people in general are friendly and happy to be of assistance.
Naturally, being four miles outside of York is in itself a large attraction for its diverse cultural history and of, course, its night life. You are also located quite close to the North Yorkshire Moors and all of its encompassing beauty.
