Make a charity bid for hand-crafted rocking sheep

The last three sheep – a ram, a ewe and a lamb – from the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution’s unique flock of purebred hand-crafted Welsh rocking sheep are looking for new homes.

So, here’s your chance to make an on-line bid for one of these low maintenance – but high enjoyment – sheep, which could make an ideal Christmas gift for a special person.

Each rocking sheep is individually hand-made by Roger and Judy Newman at their home in the Carmathenshire hills.

Using locally-sourced materials, they select and cure the Welsh lambskins and fashion the wood from Douglas firs grown in the Brechfa forest.

To make a bid for one or all of the final three members of the flock, simply submit the amount you are willing to spend stating which one of the flock your bid is for, and giving a daytime contact number. The proceeds from the sale will help RABI help those in need in the farming community.

As for the guide prices, sheep from RABI’s flock have so far made prices of up to £220 for lambs to £400 for rams. The more they make, the more RABI will be able to help those in need.

Please submit your bid before 4pm on 16 December. UK delivery of the sheep to the successful bidder(s) will be arranged in time for Christmas.

To bid, please submit here the amount you are willing to spend …
