Rsabi launches summer match-funding appeal

Scottish farming charity Rsabi is urging supporters to take advantage of a summer fundraising campaign that will see every donation doubled as it celebrates 25 years of its confidential helpline.

The charity’s £25k for 25 Years – Double the Difference appeal aims to raise £50,000, with all donations matched up to £25,000 thanks to an anonymous donor.

More than £8,000 has already been raised since the campaign launched at the Royal Highland Show.

The appeal has attracted support from individuals, families and community groups across Scotland.

Among the early donations are £500 from Dunfermline Rotary Club, £500 gifted by the Campbell family instead of wedding favours at their daughter’s wedding, and more than £700 raised through a collection at the funeral of Jessie Young, organised by her daughter, Iona.

Supporters are being invited to organise activities such as tractor runs, bake sales, pub quizzes or collections at local agricultural shows, with every pound raised going twice as far until the £25,000 match-funding target is reached.

Pauline Macmillan, Rsabi’s head of fundraising, said the charity was grateful to the anonymous donor whose generosity has made the match-funding campaign possible.

Every donation made before the end of the summer would have twice the impact, helping Rsabi reach even more people across Scotland’s farming communities, she added.

25-year milestone

Rsabi (the Royal Scottish Agricultural Benevolent Institution) has been supporting people in Scottish agriculture for the past 25 years.

Today, the charity provides a wide range of services, including its free 24-hour helpline (0808 1234 555), financial and practical assistance, counselling and wellbeing support for those facing difficult circumstances.
