Top diversifications go head-to-head

The three businesses vying for the coveted top shot in the Diversification category of the 2011 Farmers Weekly Awards have been named.

A trio of farming families – the Passmores in Sussex, the Pauls in Suffolk and the Barnes in Staffordshire – beat off stiff competition from around the country to secure the top three spots.

Creativity, business acumen and a clear customer focus are just three of the many and varied qualities they all demonstrate.

As independent judge, consultant Peter Prag, commented: “I was particularly impressed by the level of enterprise shown by each of the finalists and by how the diversifications benefited not only their own businesses, but also the communities around them.”
