VIDEO: Dale Farm evictions loom

Police have urged farmers across south and east England to take precautions before hundreds of travellers are evicted from a site in Essex.

Houses and roads are due to be demolished at Dale Farm, an illegal settlement near the village of Cray’s Hill. Bailiffs and contractors employed by Basildon Council are due to move in to clear the site on 19 September.

The decision to remove the 400 people in 51 unauthorised plots has fuelled fears among local residents that evicted travellers could set up camp on nearby farmland.

Farmers Weekly’s chief reporter Johann Tasker visited the site to talk to the travellers to hear their side of the story.
