Big interest in ‘very commercial farm’

There has already been strong interest in 233-acre Cropwell Wolds Farm since it was launched a few weeks ago, says John Hopkinson of the Nottinghamshire land agent.

Mr Hopkinson said many enquiries for the ring-fenced arable and livestock unit at Cropwell Bishop, seven miles from Nottingham, had come from farmers in the UK or Ireland.

“It is a very commercial farm.”

Between 600-700 yard-fed cattle were fattened each year for supermarkets, adding to the viability.

The farm, with a four-bedroom farmhouse, an agriculturally tied house and 800t of grain storage, is priced at £1.5m.

The sale was due to the retirement of the farmer and the decision of his son to look for a bigger farm, said Mr Hopkinson.
