Golden opportunities in Hampshire

John D Wood is the latest agent to launch a sizeable block of land in Hampshire.

Tufton Warren Farm at Whitchurch, eight miles from Andover, is 796 acres and was once part of the larger Tufton Estate.

Owned by a private family trust since 1997, the farm was being sold with a view to reinvesting the funds, said the firm’s Nicholas Hextall.

“The beneficiaries of the trust are now over 21 and don’t want to inherit a farming business.”

The trust, however, is retaining the houses and buildings at the core of the estate, he added.

Mr Hextall has guided the land and a 2000t grain store at 2.43m and reckoned neighbouring landowners or investors could be interested.

“It would make a lovely sporting estate and in terms of economies of scale would make a good bolt-on unit.

“It’s a cracking good farm and has been well farmed by Velcourt for the last nine years.”
