10,000gns for top Holstein genetics at Beeston Castle

Holstein UK’s Annual Genetic Elite Sale at Beeston Castle Auction saw prices rocket to 10,000gns for some of the top Holstein genetics on offer.
Stealing the sale limelight was Absolute Goldwyn Adeen, an eight month old daughter of Goldwyn out of the noted show cow, Lavenham Adeen (Ex92?2E) and consigned by Graham Kirby of Absolute Genetics, Kirkham, Lancashire. She is full sister to the 2012 Reserve All Britain intermediate heifer, Holmland Goldwyn Adeen (VG88?2yr) that was sold for 14,500gns at the Holmland sispersal sale last year. She now joins Richard Godber’s Knowlepark Herd at Kimberley, Nottinghmashire.
Next at 6,100gns was the six month old Woodmarsh Wyman Melody 3rd from the Gould family at Bomere Heath, Shrewsbury. This outstanding calf is out of an EX92?3E Shottle whose five nearest dams each average over 80 tonnes of milk lifetime. The purchasers were George Sanderson and Family for their Sandley Herd at Preston.
Two calves made 4,800gns each and followed each other into the ring. The first was Yasmin Bradbury’s Peak Sid Rhapsody, by Pine Tree Sid and bred from 13 straight Excellent dams. She was purchased by Richard Bown of Richaven Holsteins, Hanley Castle, Worcester. At the same price was Bassingthorpe Leedham C Seisme Red consigned by Anne Harrison and Rob Kirk of Grantham and Melton Mowbray respectively. This daughter of MD?Valleyvue Gold Chris sold to Drointon Farms of Stafford.
There was a 70% clearance at the sale with buyers travelling from across the UK.
Averages: One calved heifer, £3,570.00; three served heifers, £2,100.00; 33 maiden heifers and heifer calves, £3,146.81; 37 Head £3,073.37.
