£475 high at Carlisle calf sale

 Wednesday’s calf sale at Borderway Mart, Carlisle, saw an excellent show of 215 calves forward and a top of £475.

Hitting the top note was a Charolais bull from Messrs J W Crozier, Raggetsyke, Waterbeck.   

Traditional breeds hit £430 for an Aberdeen Angus from Messrs Fisher, Smalmstown Farm, Longtown.  There were plenty of heifers on show with quality calves going for breeding topping at £435 again from Messrs Fisher for a British Blue.  Black and White calves saw a lift with strong calves gaining a premium.
