Alpacas sell to 5200gns
In the midst of the busy sheep sales season Alpacas have also been selling at top money too, with a production sale from Jim and Mary Dent’s Blueberry Alpaca herd, Newbiggin, Penrith, recording a top price of 5200gns paid for Blueberry Alonso Renata II, a May 2010-born youngster which sold having being mated to the herd’s stud male Houghton Matador. She is a daughter of Blueberry Alonso Nicol and out of Blueberry Wiracocha Renata II. Buying this one were Barbara and Paul Hetherington, Ainstable, Carlisle, for the Beck Brow herd.
Following at 2700gns was another youngster, this time a black huacaya, Blueberry Sinbad Bahati II, sired by the prize winning Blueberry Sinbad Holly stud male and from the Blackmore Vale Bahati family on her mother’s pedigree. She was purchased for the Penwerris herd of Dianne Hall, Tarporley.
The Beck Brow herd also successfully bought a black young female for 2600gns. This was Blueberry Sinbad Blackbird, another Sinbad Holly daughter and bred from the Sharrow Bay Blackbird female line.
An early entry to the sale ring sold for 2100gns, this was Blueberry Max Fortuna Fedora sold with her female cria at foot. Fortuna Fedora is sired by Maximus Fortune male and goes back to the noted Don Pepe of Wessex line through her mother’s pedigree. The young June born cria at foot is a daughter of Blueberry Alonso Nicol. This outfit was knocked down to John and Linda Heaps, Kendal (Harrison and Hetherington).
