Angus cross takes Scottish Premier Meat title
An Aberdeen Angus cross steer from Sandy Fordyce and father, also Sandy, of Kemnay, took the championship award at Saturday’s Scottish Premier Meat Exhbition at Scotbeef, Bridge of Allan.
This one was by Eastfield Just Eric and weighed 670kg live. It graded O+4H and weighed 390.2kg on the hook. Judge for the day Katrina Farquhar said the champion was exactly what she’d want for the shop she works in which supplies notably customers in the form of Balmoral Estate, The Queen and the Prince of Wales.
Reserve overall was QMS chairman Donald Biggar with a Shorthorn steer which graded O+4L and weighed 302.1kg deadweight.
Taking the live championship was a Limousin cross by Goldies United from Bob Templeton, Newton Stewart.
