Angus head to Italy for herd foundation

A batch of Aberdeen-Angus from Robert Lane’s Penguin herd, Shropshire, are heading for sunnier climes in Italy as the foundation for a new herd.

Buyers, the D’Antonio family sourced the cattle from Sheila Egglestone at Eggs-Port of Hexham, and will use the herd to supply pure Angus beef to leading chefs in the area.

The cattle, bought in a deal worth £25,000, originate from some of the most famous female lines in the breed, while the young bull included in the consignment, Penguin Express, is a son of DMM Posi-Traction out of DMM Essence and is a the result of an imported embryo.
