In reserve was Dermot Small’s August 2013 born Khaleesi, from Kilkeel, Co. Down. Bred by James Alexander she is sired by Swarland Eddie and is out of a British Blue x cow.  Exhibited by Stephanie Dick, of Ronick Limousins Stirling, it was the first outing for Khaleesi, who will now go on to contest the title at Smithfield.

Commenting on his placing Welsh judge Tecwyn Jones said: “The champion heifer has good style and a tremendous top line and width.

“I haven’t seen a heifer with so much top on her before. On the day she’s an easy winner.”
