Farmers Weekly writers win Scotch beef gong

Farmers Weekly Farmer Focus writers Robert and Jac Neill have won the Scotch Beef Farm of the Year Award.

The couple – winners of the 2006 Farmers Weekly‘s Beef Farmer of the Year award – was presented with the award by rural affairs secretary Richard Lochhead at AgriScot.

Judges were looking for farmers reflecting a high standard of technical and financial performance, as well as ideas to improve efficiency and good health and welfare. They said the couple ticked every box.

The Neills received a £500 cheque and a £250 voucher for The Scotch Beef Club restaurant.

The runners up were Euan Smith, from near Haddington, East Lothian, and the McLaren family from near Auchterarder, Perthshire.
