British Blondes make 6,000gns at Carlisle
British Blonde bulls sold to a top of 6,000gns at the society’s spring show and sale at Carlisle on the weekend (10 May).
Sale topper was Hackleton Hercules from Hackleton Farms, Northampton. This February 2012 born bull is sired by Druk Elijah and is out of a homebred dam. Buyer was Wolsingham Park Farm, Bishop Auckland.
Next best and selling for 3,500gns was Gerard Stranney’s supreme and senior champion Seaview Harry, from Downpatrick, Co Down. Sired by Shanvally Dancer he is out of the Ashtonlodge Tyson daughter Seaview Confetti. He headed to Stranraer with WAM Hall.
Just shy of this at 3,000gns was the November 2012-born bull Eilean Hagrid from Alasdair McSporran, Innerleithan, Peebleshire. He is the first son by the Ballygowan Noble son Eilean Fergus and is out of Eilean Fancy. He was bought by W Swainson and Son, Carlisle, Cumbria.
Making 2,800gns was the junior and reserve champion Hallfield Hatchet from P Weightman and Sons, Peterlee, Co Durham. Sired by Cyrano he is out of the Blackwater Ainsley daughter Hallfield Fuschia. Buyer was WAM Hall.
Females
Hackleton Farms also earned the day’s top priced female with their four-year-old champion Hackleton Elecia. Sired by Whiskey Dollar she is out of a homebred dam and sold with her March born, Druk Elijah-sired heifer calf at foot to Messrs Mitchell, Penrith, Cumbria.
Averages: Nine bulls, £3,220; three females, £2,415.
