British Blue cow leads Sedgemoor suckler sale
A British Blue cow realised £3000 in the dispersal of E J and J D Cope’s commercial and pedigree suckler cows at Sedgemoor Market last Saturday.
Selling for this top call was Norton Cariad, a 2007-born Dafydd D’Ochain daughter sold six months in calf. And making £1800 was Tamhorn Anya, a 2005-born cow by Affute Du ry Ossogne. June 2008-born in calf heifers by Tamhorn Sumo sold at £2300 and £1800.
Commercial cows and calves from the same dispersal peaked at £1750 for a Blonde cross cow with a May born British Blue sired steer calf at foot, while another of the same cross made £1700 with a July-born heifer at foot.
Selling at £1680 was a Charolais cross cow with an April-born British Blue steer calf at foot, while four other crossbred cow outfits made more than £1600.
