Carlisle British Blue bull preview

Much like yesterday’s Charolais preview for the Carlisle sales, today’s British Blue preview is a relatively short affair, with only 41 bulls entered it doesn’t really need a massive list of possible highlights.

First up in my pick is Ballykeel Dollar (lot 205) an ET bred Ballygrange Alex son out of Ballykeel Sovereign, a Luron du Coin daughter, a proven show winning female line. He sells with a BB carcass yield index of +8.

A massive jump in figures marks out the next bull in my pick, Springhill Designer (lot 209). this Empire D’Ochain son is out of Springhill Apple, a Blak Du Baty D’Eprave daughter and sells with a massive BB carcass yield index of +25.

Anyone who knows the breed will immediately recognise the dam of my next choice, Bringlee Dwight (lot 215), he is a Racister Du Pachis A La Motte son out of the tremendously well breeding Bringlee Sandy. This one has an index of +8 and is of course maternal brother to a host of other Bringlee bulls, including Blackstar, Waldo and Volkawagon and also 21,000gns Henli Wishmaster.

Next up is New Close Daz (lot 218) he is by Mountjoy Utopia and out of Hazelwood Tinkerbell, a Hazelwood Jake daughter. He has an index of +18 and has been selected for the EBLEX young bull scheme.

I’ve then followed that up with Clougher Email (lot 223), he’s by Spingbank Blackstar and out of Clougher Wendy, a Visconti De St Fontaine daughter. He was male and reserve breed champion at this year’s Balmoral Show, while his mother was breed champion at Clougher this year too.

After that comes Black N Blue Emperor, this is an Empire D’Ochain son out of Black n Blue UK.Com, a Serum D’Anloy daughter which is of course dam to Black N Blue Diesel. He has an index of +20.
