Carlisle dairy trade hits 4000gns

Dairy trade hit a high spot of 4000gns last week at Carlisle when Harrison and Hetherington held it’s monthly sale of pedigree dairy cattle.

Topping the trade was the first place heifer and overall champion from the pre-sale show, a seven week calved entry from Messrs Steel, Kepculloch. This one is by Mesland Duplex and is bred from nine generations of Ex or VG rated dams. She sold to A and B Bargh, Skelton.

At 3200gns was the best of the day from J and R Hunter, West Tarbrax. She is a Comestar Outside daughter bred from the Miss America family and calved a month previously. Buying this one were Messrs Horsley, Catterlen.

Selling for 2700gns was the best of a strong sttring from G and M Wilson and Son. This was Snow Nina 9, an Ocean-View Derry Zander daughter. She was snapped up by Messrs Bargh. Then at 2600gns was another from the same home, Snow Gwenfron 50. This is a Mesland Duplex daughter which calved on the fifth of October. She sold to N and S J Sanderson, Lanercost.

Averages; 17 cows in milk £1827.62, 21 heifers in milk £2037, 19 bulling heifers £644.92, 11 heifer calves £199.50 (Harrison and Hetherington).
