Carlisle Limousin sale preview

As promised here is a preview of this weekend’s Limousin sale at Carlisle. It is as always just my selection from a read of the catalogue, there will doubtless be bulls that I fail to mention which you like the look of and I’m sure I’ll pick something you don’t like the look of. If that’s the case then feel free to comment below.

 A Stirling Charolais preview will follow later today and Angus, Shorthorn, Simmental and Limousin previews for Stirling will follow in the next day or so.

Now, its on with the Lims, so here’s my first pick of the bunch senior bull Haltcliffe Dauphin (lot 7) from Messrs Ridley. This is a Sympa son out of Romance with a beef value of +39. He was, as some will remember passed unsold at 3000gns in May, but his pedigree makes him worthy of mention.

After that I come to Guards Dingdong (lot 17) from Messrs Little. This one is the first son of big ended bull Guards Boomer (a Rocky son) to come to auction and is out of Guards Alison, a Nenuphar daughter.

Then its on to Loosebeare Earl (lot 28) from the Quick family. Sired by Haltcliffe Anzac, Earl is out of a full sister to 20,000gns Loosebeare Diego sold to Wilodge and has a beef value of +37.

Next up is Central Encore (lot 30), an Objat son out of Central Uanne, a cow with a line back to Djerk and an impressive show record to her name, including being first at the ILC as a yearling. He sells with a beef value of +36, including a muscle depth of +4.9.

Following on then is Tomschoice Elgar (lot 34). This Vermount son is out of Tomschoice Artiste, a Sarkley Topknot daughter and was breed champion and reserve junior interbreed champion at this year’s Great Yorkshire Show. He carries a beef value of +26.

Then I jump a few lots before coming to Netherhall Eddy (lot 56). He’s by Sympa and out of a Grahams Samson sired dam, an interesting pedigree combination. Netherhall had a good string of bulls last time out, so it will be interesting to see what’s forward this time.

The next lot, Culnagechan Eagle (lot 57) could be worth a look too. This is an Ampertaine Abracadabra son out of a Cloughhead Lord sired dam and he was reserve junior male champion at Balmoral in May.

A few lots later comes Cowin Elwyn (lot 60), a Millbrook Tanko son out of Drysgol Swyn, a cow which goes back to Cannon. He comes with an impressive muscle figure of +5.9 and a beef value of +40.

Anyone chasing figures should look to the next lot Loosebeare Exmoor (lot 61), this Haltcliffe Anzac son with lines to Nenuphar and Cannon has a beef value of +51, including a muscle depth of +6.8, although he does have a negative calving ease at -5.4.

One of the southern show circuits big winners of the year Ironstone Enrico (lot 67) is next on my list. This Vantastic son is out of Torpedo, dam of 10,000gns bull Ironstone Bomber,  and has a beef value of +41. He has picked up a string of tickets this summer.

And its another from the Smiths of Bloxham team that gets the nextmark, being Ironstone Explorer (lot 90). This one has an interestingpedigree being by Vantastic and out of Bailea Ugina, a Requin daughter.His beef value is +34.

Following that is Emslies Ebay (lot 101),this Oxygene son is one of three ET bred brothers forward from HarryEmslie this time round, out of Pennys Tess. With a beef value of +34and a muscle figure of +3.5.

Procters Eiger (lot 114) comes nexton my list, this is a Vermount son out of Procters Naroma, a RonickApollo daughter, he has a beef value of +38 and a muscle figure of +5.2.

Itsa bit of a jump again to the next, with this being Brockhurst Embassy(lot 140) from the Mashs. This is a Grahams Samson son out of Frenchcow Segala, a Mas Du Clo daughter.

After that it is on toanother from the Ridleys, Haltcliffe Echo. This Sympa son is out ofHaltcliffe Tansy, a Ronick Hawk daughter. He come with a beef value of+46.

Picked on pedigree is Sarkley Eddie (lot 184) this is byRonick Gains and out of Sarkley Tarragon, a Cloughhead Lord daughterwith Cannon in her back line.

Then its on to Scorboro Enigma(lot 207). He is an Objat son out of Scorboro Recipe, a Ronick Icemandaughter and comws with a beef value of +46. He has previously beenLimousin champion at Driffield show on his only prior outing.

GrahamsElvis (lot 225) is another of interest. He’s by Grahams Alexander andout of Grahams Viola, a Grahams Poncho daughter. He has stood top ofthe line at various shows and has a beef value of +49.

PaulDawes has one worth a look in the form of ET bred Dinmore Elite (lot231). This Tonka son is out of 9000gns dam Newstart Uptowngirl. He hasa beef value of +33.

A pair from Maraiscote come next. First is Maraiscote Ember, this is aVirginia Andy son out of Maraiscote Opium and has a beef value of +33.He was previously male champion at the Highland this year.

Comingalong next in my list is Maraiscote Esso (lot 254), this Virginia Andyson is out of Maraiscote Sugar and was male champion at this year’sRoyal Welsh. His beef value is +36.

Another with massive figuresis Goldies Eagle (lot 257), an Ampertaine Bravo son out of GoldiesVitality, dam of 23,000gns Goldies Comet and £26,000 Goldies Classic.He has  a beef value of +52 including a muscle figure of +7.8.

Onefrom Brian Jones’ Bailea herd is next in the form of Bailea EltonJohn(lot 258). Sired by the great breeding sire Salomon, he is out ofBailea Songbird, an Imposant daughter with Gigolo in her breeding.

Ablack bull from Bruce Goldie is next on the list, being Goldies BlackEnrico (lot 275). He is by Haltcliffe Bill and out of Goldies Bimbo, adaughter of the famous cow SLVL Dutchess Olivia. He has a beef value of+34.

Derriaghy Enfield (lot 277), a Broadmeadows Cannon son outof Lenagh Utopia, a Nenuphar daughter is next. This one was juniorchampion and reserve breed champion at Balmoral as well as juniorinterbreed champion at the same show. His beef value is +30.

The only entry from the Wilodge stable is the final pick, being WilodgeEnrico (lot 286). This is a Sympa son out of Wilodge Vavanelle, whichis of course full sister to Vantastic. He comes with a beef value of+34.

As an overall comment I hope that many of the bulls forward are betteron their legs than some of the junior bulls seen out and about at theshows this year, it seems that in every breed there has been a gradualdecline in locomotion.
