Carlisle Mule shearlings reach £202
Mule shearling ewes hit a top call of £202 at Carlisle yesterday when Bill Skelton of Rook Farm sold his first prize pen from pre-sale show. Judge Andrew Sowerby later backed his judgment by purchasing the pen for £202.
A high quality show throughout resulted in an overall average of £120.86 being achieved, a staggering £46.25 up on the previous year. Many regular consigners averaged over £130. This sale has truly kicked of the Mule breeding sheep season.
Other leading prices included further bids of £148, £134 and £132 for shearlings from Mr Skelton, while entries from other vendors topped at £150 for Yew Tree Farm. (Harrison and Hetherington),
