Mr Geoff Batey of High Knells Farm run of British Blue bullocks weighing 745kg sold to a top price of 217.5p or ÂŁ1620, bought by Pioneer Foods.

At the weekly sale of prime hoggs and cast ewes 2,872 head were forward. Trade took a good rise on the week with an overall average of 210.82p/kg being achieved however the SQQ weights met the greatest demand averaging 218.98p/kg.
Topping the sale at ÂŁ118.80 was a pen of Beltex cross hoggs from Messrs Wharton of Snade Farm selling to Mr Andrew Dawson of Sedbergh.
Messrs Wharton also had top price a kilo at 291.4p/kg again for a consignment of Beltex crosses weighing 37kg and they were again purchased by Mr Andrew Dawson. Messrs Harrison of Grange Hall sold a fabulous run of Continental cross hoggs with an average weight of 41.48kg, they sold to average ÂŁ113.67 or 274.05p/kg. New buyers were in attendance and more hoggs could have been easily sold to vendors advantage.
