Charolais centre record at Holsworthy

A new centre record and an average of £3431 for 11 bulls were the highlights of last week’s Charolais sale at Holsworthy, with the top price taken by Broadbury Diesel, a Burradon Talisman son out of a Riddlecombe bred cow. Bred by R and Long and forward for sale from R S and S M Hopper, Bude, this one sold for 5600gns to C P Heard, Okehampton.

Following that at 4700gns was the day’s reserve champion from the pre-sale show, Balbithan Everclear from Andrew White. This is a son of 10,000gns sire Inverlochy Topsire and is out of a dam by Seawell Offshore. He sold with a SRI in the top 10% of the breed and was bought by former Farmers Weekly Beef Farmer of the Year Philip Heard.

Then at 4000gns was the day’s overall champion Downtown Duncan. This is a Westcarse Beef  son out of a dam by Waverlea Ruler. Bred by Brian and Diane Lavis, Okehampton, this one returned to his home town when selling to Philip Heard.

Holsworthy10DowntownDuncan.jpgAnd selling for 3650gns was Babithan Duke a Mortimers Vanquish son out of a homebred cow. He sold to B K Heale, Holsworthy.

Making 3500gns was Gaer Director from. This one was bred by T E Jones, Welshpool and forward on the day from M L Impey, Ludlow. This Lowerffrydd Benhu son sold to North Wyke Farms, Okehampton.
