Charollais rams sell to £180 at Priddy sheep fair

Priddy Sheep Fairy, Somerset saw a strong entry of 833 sheep this year, with a top price of £180/head going to a pair of Full Mouth Charollais rams from Elliott Davis, Compton Martin.

 

Close behind were Two Tooth Charollais rams from Roger and Sue Durston of Chedder selling at £175 and £140.

 

Amongst the breeding ewes, Suffolk Two Tooths, put forward by Mrs E Manning of Chew Magna, went to £94. And Suffolk Two Tooths from Elliott Davis of Compton Martin sold to £90.

 

Mule Two Tooth topped at £70 from Mr Davis.

 

Store lambs topped at £62, with an entry of Texel crosses from Ashley Hann, Chedder, closely followed by Suffolk crosses entered by Kevin Seymour and selling to £58.

 

Among the Charollais crosses, Mr Glanville of Iron Acton topped the trade at £57.

 

Ewe lambs sold to £61 from a run of North Country Mules from Paul and Anna Athay, Chedder.

 

Suffolks from Lewis and Joseph Tibbs, Stanton Drew and Poll Dorset crosses from Hannah and Rosie Payne, Priddy, both went to £57.
