Christmas cracker Texel sale trade tops 9,000gns

A brace of in-lamb Texels sales at Carlisle on Friday (6 December) saw prices hit a high of 9,000gns in the Christmas Crackers invitational sale.

Taking the day’s top call was Aberdeenshire-based breeder Graham Morrison of the Deveronvale flock, with Mr Morrison’s sale leader, MGV1200302, selling to Melanie Kellet, Northamptonshire.

This gimmer, a Tophill Spartacus daughter is out of a dam by Glenside Lieutenant and in-lamb to the noted Strathbogie Terminator, the 2013 Texel sire of the year.

The sale’s second best call of 5,000gns was achieved on two occasions, with the first at this money coming from the Knock pen of Albert and George Howie, also Aberdeenshire.
