Cramar Affirmed A Cutes tops dispersal sale at 11,000gns
A fourth calver was knocked down for 11,000gns at the dispersal sale of the prizewinning Holstein Cramar herd on Monday (23 June).
Roger and Dianne Steeples sold their prizewinning herd on farm at Kettering, Northamptonshire, with Cramar Affirmed A Cutes taking the top bid and she is staying in the county, being sold to Blaise Tomlinson, Nanpantan, Leicester.
Her daughters were also in great demand with her Butz-Butler Atwood Brady daughter being the joint top-priced calf at 5,500gns and her three embryo transfer (ET) daughters by Crackholm Fever making 6,200, 5,900 and 5,000gns, respectively.
The Misha family were in great demand with Nev and Rhian Roberts of the Dulais herd, Drefach, Llanelli, giving 10,000gns for the 87 point, two-year-old AS RD Misha Jordan, jointly owned with Sam Wake and Andrew Holliday.
Her maternal sister Cramar Shottle Misha (VG-87), who had won many prizes as a calf, made 9,000gns to Oliver Williams, who is establishing a new herd at Covington, Cambridgeshire. Her outstanding heifer calf by Toc-Farm Goldsun made 5,500gs to Ffion Thomas, Ammanford, Carmarthenshire.
Elwyn and Cheryl Thomas of the Gatrog herd, Llanelli, acquired a number of the best cattle, giving 8,500gns for the freshly calved heifer Cramar Sid Fran and 8,000gns for another cow of the same family Cramar I Affirmed Faith (VG-89).
