Dairy dispersal tops 2,450gns at Sedgemoor
Despite the unseasonable cold weather SedgemoorAuction Centre saw scorching trade at the dairy dispersal of H W S Chugg &Partners.
No less than 30% of the milkers sold for inexcess of ÂŁ2,000 to a top of 2,450gns for Julie 33rd, a Novembercalved heifer by Reece, who was giving 34.4 kgs and was served again toMccormick to calve in October.
A combination of excellent sires and milk yieldsgenerated a great deal of interest creating a packed ring for this very genuinesale, which was well supported by both neighbours and purchasers from Dorset,Somerset, Gloucestershire and Wales with many more leaving empty handed.
British Friesian bloodlines proved to be instrong demand selling to 2,300gns for a daughter of Lakemead Rancher who hadcalved in November at two years two months and was giving 41.2kgs daily.
A November calved Shottle daughter who hadcalved to her second and was giving 42.8kgs sold for 2,250gns. Freshly calvedheifers by Burlane Tennyson from the Katie family and the Tommy family sold to 2,400gnsand 2,100gns respectively.
Served heifers due in the autumn to the Devonsold to 1250gns for daughters of Mccormick and Bluesky. Bulling heifers out of 12,000kgs dams by Mccormick& Junction sold to 940gns, 2012 born heifers to 720gns and a lot heifercalves by Mccormick to 460gns.
