Dairy trade reaches £2,320 at Gisburn

A quality entry of dairy cattle met solid trade at Gisburn Auction Marts this week (7 Nov), with Singleton’s James and Anne Rogerson achieving the top price of £2320 for their third prize-winning heifer.

 

Sired by Bosside Altraross and currently giving 34kgs, she sold to WA Blockley Knutsford, Cheshire.

 

Chris and Harrogate’s Jennifer Hardcastle’s first prize-winning heifer sold for £2,300 to Doug Graves, Armathwaite, Carlisle.

Mr Graves was also the purchaser of the next best priced lot for £2,280; another heifer from the Hardcastle’s who is currently giving just over 30kg a day.

 

Regular vendors-Brian and Lisa Hall, Gargrave, Skipton, achieved £2,220 when selling their newly calved heifer, giving 34 litres. Taking her home was W Williams.

 

Robert Lister, Worston, Clitheroe, made £2,020 for his newly calved heifer giving over 30kgs.

Of the 34 milkers on offer twelve achieved £2,000 or more.

 

Top price cow came from Pete Dakin, Sawley, Clitheroe at £2,100. In calf heifers sold to £1,450 and heifer calves to £320.
