Chance to learn from organic dairy role models
Six selected organic farms will be used as role models from which others can learn, in an initiative launched by the Organic Milk Suppliers Co-operative.
The Demonstration Farm Programme will allow farmers to meet, view and discuss technical and management issues, with an aim to increasing profitability and quality of farm businesses. Farms will also be used as centres of research and development.
OMSCo technical manager Peter Savidge says: “The selected farms cover a wide geographic areas and a range of different size and systems, ensuring that the programme is relevant to all.”
Farmers Weekly contributor Tim Downes is one of the demonstration farmers and he thinks the programme will encourage all farmers to aim for the best level of organic farming practice. “This also gives us access to regular monitoring and allows us to share what we learn with fellow farmers.”
