Music fans head to somerset dairy farm for Glastonbury Festival

Thousands of music fans are preparing themselves for a muddy weekend on a dairy farm in Somerset this weekend at the annual Glastonbury Festival.

One of the most famous farm diversification projects in the country, the festival will see dairy farmer Michael Eavis’ Holstein herd share their home to almost 140,000 campers, as well as top bands including Blur, Bruce Springsteen and Status Quo.

With a wet weekend forecast and stocks of wellington boots already sold out by Friday (26 June), the farm’s 500 acres of permanent pasture is set for a battering.

You can find out how Mr Eavis copes with excessive poaching on his silage ground, as well as his unique technique for clearing up after the event, in an exclusive interview in Farmers Weekly next week.

We’ll also have a feature on how young farmers get involved with planning and helping out over the weekend.
