Dungannon Charollais sell to 2900gns peak
Charollais tups sold to a peak of 2900gns at the breed’s Northern Irish Premier sale at Dungannon, with this price paid for the pre-sale champion from Jonathan Aiken.
This one was the winner from the January-born ram lamb class and is a son of Carnew Kingpin out of a dam by Coventry Fosterman. He sold to join Gary Scott’s Co Tyrone-based flock.Second best was a shearling from the Tullyear pen of Drew and Stephen Cowan, this ET son of Rockvilla Golden Promise out of Rutland Lightening sold to Stewartstown breeders George Booth and George Hammond at 2300gns.
The first prize winner from the shearlings then sold at 1500gns, with this being a Honddu Investigator son from David and Liz Mawhinney. He sold to a County Cavan-based buyer.
Another Lightening son from the Tullyear pen, this time a January born lamb sired by Arjane Kukuri sold for 1300gns to Michael Powers, County Limerick.
At the same money was the best from the Doughery Flock of Robert and Stuart Cromie. This was paid for a December born Logie Durno Klass Act son selling to a Breeder from County Galway.
Making 1200gns was the reserve champion from the pre-sale show from Jonathan Aiken. This was the December-born ram lamb class winner again by Kingpin which sold to a Katesbridge breeder
In the Female class George and Jason Booth took the honours with a Riverdale Jupiter ewe lamb, Jupiter is a son of Rainbow Hermes,this stylish ewe lamb also making the top female price on the day selling for 820gns to County Clare Breeder Eamonn Quinlivan.
