Exeter South Devons top at 7100gns

Yesterday’s sale of South Devons at Exeter, the largest entry since the 1970s, saw a top price of 7100gns paid for Sexton Poll Hermes 4 from Messrs Harvey. This one, by Toor Down Hermes 3 and out of Sexton Snowdrop 363, sold to R Edwards Leominster, having stood reserve male champion in the pre-sale show.

Z AI Sexton Poll Hermes 4.JPGNext best at 6000gns was Knightcote Demetrius 2, a polled son of Colcharton Demetrius from Hadley Farms. He was bought by P G Bowditch, Axminster, Devon.

At 5500gns was Kestle Leo 5 from R K Rundle. By Lumbylaw Leo 2 and out of Kestle Buttercup 97, he had been champion in the pre-sale show and sold with a beef value of +18 to D J Hedgeman, Wareham, Dorset.

Kestle Leo 5 - champion.JPGAnd selling for 5400gns was M R and R J Rowe’s bull Tregondale Balti 11, which sold to G L Stidston, Devon, while at 5200gns W H D Scott sold Grove Midas 26 to G C and V J Hill, Tavistock.

In the females the top price was a 2500gns sale for the pre-sale female champion, Kestle Dahlia 57 from Mr Rundle. This one was bought by Messrs Pleus, Bude.Kestle Dahlia 57 - female champion.JPG 

And at 2000gns was Kestle Tulip 80 which was also sold to the same buyer.
