Females pull in crowds at Dingwall and Highland Mart

Dingwall and Highland Marts annual show and sale saw 104 MV accredited pedigree females forward, attracting one of the largest crowds ever witnessed.

 

Topping trade at 900gns was ewe lamb Texel from Galcantray Farm, Caldor. In lamb gimmers topped at 680gns for a Texel consigned by West Knock.

 

A couple of entries realised 500gns. The first was the Texel reserve champion, Glenside Mt Lord gimmer carrying twins from Messrs A and G Howie, West Knock, and selling to D Ranklin, Skye.

 

Next at 500gns was the Suffolk champion, a gimmer by Drimmie Apollo from Messrs H P Sleigh and Sons, Fyvie, selling to Mrs M Bisset, Evanton. The reserve Suffolk champion was awarded to another Drimmie Apollo daughter also consigned by H P Sleigh which realised 400gns.

 

Texel champion, a ewe lamb by Coulter Allers Max Factor, from Messrs T and P Dalgetty, Muir of Tarrandale sold for 400gns to the judge, Mr J Leitch, Orkney.

 

The Beltex champion was awarded to a Garrion Knock Knock gimmer carrying twins, consigned by Miss J Brown, Watten and realising 350gns to Mr J Simpson.

Reserve award went to a Balig Branston gimmer carrying a single from Messrs J Scott, Fearn Farm, Tain realising 300gns to Messrs W Robertson and Son.
