First Royal Welsh commercial cattle results

Judging got underway in the commercial cattle section at 8am this morning and Colin Harris is making steady progress through the classes, if a little random at times – moving beasts four or five places up the line at the last minute has left some ringsiders perplexed!

Taking the first of the lightweight heifer classes was Elfed Williams with 378kg Limousin heifer Duffy. This one was bred by Brian Jones at Bailea. Second was D Thomas with Limousin cross Jade at 419kg.

In the first steer class the ticket went to Teulu Williams with a 421kg Limousin cross TWM, while second was W D Davies with a 352kg British Blue cross of the same name.

The second heifer class also went to Elfed, this time with Ting Ting, a John Richardson bred heifer by a Limousin. She weighed 469kg and cost ÂŁ10,000 from Penrith. Second was J E L Morgan with Sparky a 465kg Limousin cross.

In the third heifer class the winner were Colin and Wendy Phillips with My Girl a Limousin cross bred by the Pennie family, Sarkley. Second here was Emily Jones with 488kg Alex Fifi, another Limousin cross.
