Hereford bulls in big demand reach 8,600gns

 

DSC_0980 Champion Lot 30 web.jpgA top bid of 8,600gns was the high spot of a cracking trade for bulls at the Hereford Cattle Society’s show and sale at Hereford today.

 

Starting the day well with the championship ticket, Bromley 1 Midas from local breeder Mark Roberts went on to top the sale at 8,600gns claimed by A Nesbitt Farms Ltd, Berkshire. By Dorepoll 1 Crown Royal, he had a successful show season last year.

 

 

DSC_1077 Lot 20 web.jpgFisher 1 Grandee from W J Hutchings and Sons, West Sussex made 8,200gns (above) to J E Jones and Son, Montgomeryshire. He is by Yalgoo Boulder and out of a Chapelton 1 Kinsman dam.

 

At 5,500gns Mrs J M Cant and Partners sold Panmure 1 Hugo, a Romany 1 Distiller son. He goes to Taunton, Somerset with Jonathan Moorhouse.

Lancashire-based Oyston Estates made their foundation purchase paying 5,000gns for the bull Frenchstone P. 1 Challenger, a Bosa 1 Mr Bean son from Devon breeders L and A Ayre. 

 

DSC_1056 Fem Champ Lot 3 web.jpgTop female bid was 4,000gns for the champion, the in-calf heifer Romany 1 Julia from J RB Wilson and Sons Kelso. By Baybridge 1 Atlas, she had been running with the USA import Spurstow 1 Recruit.

 

Averages: 25 bulls 4,100gns and nine females 2,300gns; Non-sale females (19) averaged 1,700gns.(Brightwells).
