Hereford Gauloise secures breed champ at Bristol calf show

Junior male champion Lowesmoor 1 Gauloise, took the grand male championship at the 2010 National Calf Show, held at Bristol Sales Centre. Gauloise, owned by M J Clark from Tetbury, Gloucestershire, is out of Lowesmoor 1 Winky 220 and by Star Tohon 25M ET. He impressed the judge Robin Irvine from County Armagh, Northern Ireland as soon as he came into the ring. “The nine month old bull had a great spring of rib, plenty of length and well muscled. A carcase animal fit for either the pedigree or commercial markets.”

Reserve grand male went to senior male champion Church Preen Galileo from A R Owen, Church Preen Herefords,  Shropshire. Fourteen month old Galileo is out of Longville Prunella and by Hermitage Commando and earlier in the show season had taken the junior male championship at the National Horned Hereford Show.

Taking the grand female championship was senior heifer champion Eldersfield 1 Roma G547, A J Hobson also from Gloucestershire. Roma G547 is by Lowesmoor 1 Banker and out of Eldersfield 1 Roma. 

 

Reserve grand female went to junior female champion British Poll Ashdale 3 Sara, TG  and EI Thorne, Pembrokeshire

Taking First Prize in the Young Handlers Competition was Jo Compton from Dorset, showing one of her Grandfather’s Baybridge heifers. In Reserve place was Non Thorne from Pembrokeshire.
