Holywood Holsteins sell to 2700gns twice

Last week’s first sale to disperse the Holywood herd of Holsteins at Carlisle for the Whiteford family, Dumfries, saw a top call of 2700gns paid twice.

First to take this call was Holywood Noah Della, a Denmire Noah daughter out of Chelton Lady, a dam with two lactations at 10,000kg and above in her first three milkings. this one, which calved in October and had given more than 3300 in the first 110 days of her first, sold to T Forsyth, Isle Farm, Whithorn.

The other at this money was a January 2006-born daughter of Ladino Park Talent, Holywood Talent Vaakje. This is out of Stardale Vaakje, a cow which has gone past 11,000ks three times. Sold in-calf to Regancrest Design, she gave 8626 in her first lactation and was bought by Cottam Ltd, Holmbrook.

A brace also made the next top call of 2500gns, the first of which was Holywood Kojack Handsome, a Weeton Kojack daughter out of Bishampton Leadership Handsome 9. Having given more than 9000kg in her first lactation and 8568 in 202 days of her second she sold to W Smith, Stewarton, Kilmarnock.

Second to make this money wasHolywood James Clarissa, a Shoremar James daughter out of Lanhydrock Permission Clarissa. With a first lactation of 9883 and a second of 11,621, she was sold having been AI’d to Regancrest Design and went to N and S J Sanderson, Lanercost. 

Selling at 2350gns was Aintree Freeman Wendy, a Braedale Freemand daughter out of Aintree Solitaire Wendy. This May 2004-born cow gave 11867 in her second  and had given 6819 in 158 days of her third lactation. She sold having been AI’d to Regancrest Diamond and was bought by N and S J Sanderson, Lanercost.

Averages; 70 heifers in milk ÂŁ1588.20, 125 cows in milk ÂŁ1246.81, 16 in-calf heifers ÂŁ1626.84, 39 heifer calves ÂŁ564.04 (Harrison and Hetherington and Wright Manley).
