Irish Blues sell to E7100 top at Roscrea
Belgian Blue bulls sold to a peak of E7100 at Roscrea on Saturday, with the top price taken by the reserve male champion Bluebell Calumn from Sean O Brien. This is an Empire son out of Bluebell Rosie and sold to Joe Davis, Williamstown. Galway.
Second best bull price of the day was a E6000 bid for the male champion Ross Dan from Jarlath Duggan, Rathdowney. Sired by Ballygrange Bob he is out of Ross Amanda and sold to Enda McGee, Athlone..
Then at E6000 was Carrigview Craig by Daffydd D’O chain out of Rathlyon Tiffany. Bred Trevor Jackson, Kiltegan, Co Wicklow, he sold to John Dolan, Roscommon. And following that at E5900 was Carrigview Chief a Daffydd D’O chain son out of Rathlyon Tiffany bred by Trevor Jackson, Kiltegan, Co. Wicklow. He was bought by Philip Norse, Enniscorthy, Co Wexford.
Making E5400 was Boyneside Christy, an Empire D’Ochain son out of Castlecuff Agatha from Daniel McRedmond, Kinnegad. He went to John Troy, Co Clare.
In the females the top call was a E5050 bid for the female champion Castletrench Delia an Empire D’Ochain daughter out of Sheehills Abbey. Bred by Michael and Mary Williams, Mountrath, Co Laois she was knocked down to Sean O Brien, Burnfoot, Co Donegal.
And selling for E4000 was Loughill Darkie, a Gitan Du P Tit Mayeur daughter out of Lukeroyal Valentine bred by James O Donnell, Ardara, Co Donegal. She went to Oliver Larkin, Tullamore, Co Offaly.
Later in the sale Boherard Freedom sired by Boherard Cantona a six week old heifer calf with her recipient dam made €3500. This was the first calf from Boherard Cantona the new Irish bred sire standing in Belgium.
