The third and final sale to disperse S and R Thomas’ Bodmin-based herd of Jerseys saw considerable interest for the 37 two year old in-calf heifers due from July onwards that sold to £1102.50 for a S C Gold Dust Paramount Iatola daughter due to the Juno sire.
She joined the mixed Holstein and Jersey Herd of B G and J A Parsons of Camelford, Cornwall. Other in-calf heifers sold to £1071 for a Cobalt daughter due to Juno being purchased by Brian Elworthy for their newly established Jersey Herd on the Blackdown Hills. In all 10 of the in-calf heifers made more than £1000 to average at £894.
Trade remained brisk for the bulling heifers that sold to £588 and the strongest trade of all on the day was experienced for the yearling and younger heifers with yearlings selling to £462 and six month old heifer calves to £420. (Greenslade Taylor Hunt).
