Justice back in Holstein pole position

O-Bee Manfred Justice returns to the top spot in the latest bull ranking produced by DairyCo breeding+. Justice has strengthened his PLI to £249 and made a slight improvement to his SCC ranking which now stands at -20, with a daughter fertility rank of +1.

Second place goes to previous leader Mascol, with a PLI of £230 and further improvement in his fertility score, claiming third spot is fat specialist Wizzard, while Spanish born Zetali climbs three places to rank fourth.

Bilsrow Jock is the first of three British bulls to make the top 10 and now stands fifth, having made a further small improvement in his SCC proof to -9, showing his daughters to be 9% better for cell counts than an average cow.

Two bulls share sixth place with a PLI of £208. First among these is second crop bull Braedale Goldwyn who is tied with relative newcomer Jobess, like his paternal half-brother Bilsrow Jock is one of no less than 18 Jocko Besne sons in the top 100 PLI bulls.

A Brace of entries also claim eighth spot, with Picston Shottle and Burlan Tennyson equal ranking with a PLI 0f £207.

But it is Tennyson, the highest new entry, who is creating most interest. Tennyson’s PLI has been generated from 64 daughters in 47 herds and he is by Delka Juror Gordon and out of the well known Wilsondale Leadman Tracy family and shows good SCC and daughter lifespan transmitting abilities.

Final place in the top 10 is outcross sire Ijsselvliedt Breakout with a PLI of £202 and a fertility index of 7.1, meaning his daughters have shorter calving intervals and better non-return rates than the average UK cow.
