Keen Beltex buyers in Brecon
A contingent of keen buyers was seen at the second show and sale of female Beltex sheep held at Brecon Market.
A top price of £1281 was paid by Mr D Thornby for the Champion exhibit shown by D and I Bishop of Luggsmill. This was the daughter of Envoy and was in-lamb to Luggsmill Gunner.
Mr Bishop also had the second top prices of the day with a ewe lamb bred by Luggsmill Gunner, which was an exceptional lamb that had made £997 and was purchased by Mr M Owen from the noted Glantre flock.
Virtually 100% clearance was seen for in-lamb ewes, which averaged £330 for the yearling ewes and £450 for the aged ewes.
The sale concluded with a genuine flock reduction sale form Messrs Frazier and son from Conningswick Flock and these topped at £525 for a daughter bred by a Llwnybrain ram and another ewe by Pentland Hero.
The sale included 13 lambs, 16 yearling ewes and 19 aged ewes.
