Keen Competition at Shrewsbury’s Christmas Show

Competition was keen at Shrewsbury Auction Centre’s Christmas prize show and sale sponsored by National Westminster Bank.

The beef cattle prize was won by Mr A J Bowyer from Stoke on Trent with a 510kg Belgian Blue Cross heifer, which sold for 218p/kg to Mr Clive Fenton of J Longman, Stoke on Trent.

Reserve Champion was R J and A J Wilson from Leebotwood with a Limousin cross steer, which sold for 178p/kg for a gross price of £1246 to the judge Ray Bower, Penkridge.

The silverware for the champion pair of rams was won by Philip Dudleston of Habberley, Pontesbury with 10 Texel cross lambs weighing 42.5kg, which sold for £62 a head to Farm Fresh, Kenilworth. Reserve champion was Messrs S and P and C and P Williams, Bomere Heath.
