Kerry Hills sell to 740gns at Ludlow

Kerry Hill breeders enjoyed a rewarding trade at Ludlow last week when trade was topped at 740gns for a shearling ram from the Birchwood flock from W E V Stephens, The Birches, Knighton. This sold to Linda Barnard, Hall Farm, Welham, Malton, North Yorkshire. Close behind was a Ram from the same flock at 500 gns going to Antony Bros, Cwmberll, Sarn, Newtown.

The Overall Champion and Champion Female from R F & D J Price, Pentrenant, Churchstoke  named Pentrenant Orchid sold for 420 gns to the judges J & P Owens, Woodhouse, Shobdon, Hereford.

Next at 380gns was a ewe from the Dorddy flock from V T & S A Hamer, Trinnant, Llanidloes selling to D C Manton, Camp Farm, great Witley, Worcester.

Ewe lambs sold to 295 gns from R F & D J Price, Churchstoke to S H Wildgoose, Ladywood Farm, Chesterfield.

Ram lambs sold to 500 gns for a Woodhouse Ram lamb from J & P Owens, Shobdon to K R Esler & Simmonds, Dairy House, Kinston Seymour, North Somerset. Also a Ram lamb to 480 gns from the Fronarth Flock – Sion Jones, Pennant, Llannon, Ceredigion selling to V T & S A Hamer, Trinnant, Llanidloes.

Averages; 58 Ewe Lambs £111, 84 Ewes £148, 29 Rams £322, 11 Ram Lambs £228 (McCartneys).
