Lambs meet sharp trade at NWA Lancaster
NWA Lancaster reported a sharper trade then other local centres with prices averaging 160ppk. Well finished and good quality lambs were in strong demand, while lambs forward lacking finish brought the market average down.
The top price a kilo came from Mark Townley Claughton Hall when selling Texel lambs at 178ppk and another pen at 176ppk. Also achieving 176 was G Wells, Yew Tree House with a pen of Texel’s. The top price of the day came from J and M Cottam, Hill Top with heavy Suffolk lambs selling for £96.
There was a better trade for cast ewes this week with the top price being a Texel ram from Joe Townley of Mearsbeck which sold for £102. Mule ewes sold to an average of £59 and horned ewes to an average of £32.
