Lancaster Holsteins top 2800gns

The March sale for the Lancashire Club again hit the magical £2000 barrier last Thursday with a top price of 2800gns was for the first animal in the ring.

Sale leader was a fresh second calver from Robert and Elaine Butterfield’s Ingleview herd. Purchased as a yearling at the Designer dispersal sale, this VG-86 2yr by Indro produced her second calf four weeks ago and sold giving 45kg to Messrs Booth’s Dowshawdale herd in West Yorkshire.

The Butterfield family also produced the top priced heifer when Ingleview Trudy 25, the reserve champion in the pre-sale show, sold to Graham Kirby for a client at 2600 gns. This Canyon-Breeze Storm Atom daughter bred from six generations of EX/VG cows tracing back to Alan Swale’s Summit Crest Elevation Trudy EX-93.

The championship went to Richard Bainbridge for a splendid young cow by Comestar Outside. Twinfields Outside Joyce PI VG-88 (3yr) was giving 46kg and sold to the Swinson Cattle Company at 2450gns.

The sale also saw the first Swedish Red cross, shown by David Ishmael, to go under the hammer at Lancaster, one of which made 2000gns.
