Limousin heifer sells for £15/kg

Female trade was flying at the recent Christmas show and sale at Talgarth Livestock Market with a Limousin heifer selling for an impressive £15/kg.

 

This home bred heifer and show Champion from Messrs Price Bros, Tyleheulog weighed in at 495kg and sold for £7500 to Stuart Roberts and his son Gareth of H M D Butchers, Swansea.

 

DSC00015.JPG The reserve champion also made good money, selling for £2500 equating to £5.30/kg for the 490kg beast.

 

Heifers weighing up to 480kg peaked at 230p/kg for a 450kg Limousin also from Messrs Price Bros.

 

The Prices also sold a 475kg Limousin steer for the 220p/kg – the top price in the 465-560kg steer category.

 

Steers weighing more than 560kg topped at 200p/kg for a 570kg animal from T J Eckley, Talwen Fawr.
