Limousin x takes baby beef champ at EWF

There were no surprises in the baby beef section at the EWF, when the Limousin x March Bred steer, Alfie, took the championship title for Neil Slack, Penrith, Cumbria for the fourth time this year. This one, weighing 365kg, has taken the silverware at Countryside Live, AgriExpo, Carlisle as well as the reserve championship at last week’s East of England Winter Fair. This one heads to the Scottish Winter Fair next weekend and will be likely be kept for showing next year.

Reserve in this class was the six month old Belgian Blue cross from Elfyn Jones, Anglesey. This 300kg heifer has not been shown anywhere else, but will be making an appearance at Welsh Winter Fair later this month.
