Limousins reach 17,000gns at Carlisle
The maiden heifer Grahams Gayla from Stirlingshire breeders Robert and Jean Graham topped the collective sale of Limousin cattle from the Grahams, Haltcliffe, Goldies and Whinfellpark herds selling for 17,000gns when 100 cattle went under the hammer at Borderway Mart, Carlisle.
Gayla, by Baileys Elderado, goes to Doug Mash to join his Brockhurst herd at Chesham, Buckinghamshire.
Goldies Imagination, a January-born heifer calf on her recipient dam, made 12,000gns for Bruce Goldie, Dumfries. By Ampertaine Commander, she goes to Ian Handley’s Gunnerfleet herd in North Yorkshire.
The January 2012-born bull Haltcliffe Hercules topped the entry from Messrs Ridley making 10,000gns to M L Howatson, Denbigh. He is by Haltcliffe Vermount and from the famous Cloughhead Romany family.
Stockport-based Charlie Boden paid 9,000gns for Whinfellpark Haven from Penrith breeders Messrs Jenkinson. By Lowerffrydd Empire, this maiden heifer is out of a Rafiot dam.
The served heifer Grahams Gemini – a Millgate Clinker daughter in-calf to Goldies Black Forever – made 7500gns to Esmor Evans, Mold, North Wales.
Goldies Heiress, an ET-bred calf by Wilodge Vantastic from Bruce Goldie made 7000gns to Mr Bradley, Northern Ireland while another by the same sire – Goldies Grace made 6,800gns to Kevin Watret, Annan, Dumfries. Grace was in-calf to Kaprico Germander.
Grahams Gina, another heifer by the Millgate sire, made 6500gns to A Morton, Stirling. She was in-calf to Goldies Black Forever.
