Live vaccine to help control Newcastle Disease in poultry

Lohmann Animal Health has launched a new live vaccine to help control Newcastle Disease.
Newcastle Disease, also referred to as pseudo-fowl pest, is highly contagious and often results in high mortality in infected flocks.
Developed by the German vaccine specialist from a cloned strain of La Sota virus, AviPro ND C131 is suitable for broilers, layers and breeders. It has European registration and is licensed for use on chicks from 14 days old.
Cloned vaccines are thought to be more stable than mixed virus strain vaccines, as they contain one set of “genetic information”. Batch-related differences decrease giving more predictable performance.
It can be administered through the drinking water, via spray or by eye-drops. For commercial layers re-vaccination during the laying period is possible.
