European merger replaces Mastergen with Synetics

Cattle genetics company Mastergen has been rebranded as Synetics UK following a merger with French genetics giant Innoval.

Shareholders claim the new company boasts a more diverse portfolio of genetics after combining German market leader Masterring – Mastergen’s original parent company – and Innoval/Evolution, France’s biggest artificial insemination company.

British farmers can access leading European genetics through the firm’s export arm, Synetics Export. The two co-operatives traded more than 8m doses across 80 countries before the amalgamation.

“This means that UK farmers now have access to the most diverse line-up of European sires ever available,” claimed a Synetics spokesperson.

Features available on the system include:

  • Johne’s resistance
  • Digital dermatitis resistance
  • Access to dairy-specific beef breeds, such as INRA95 and Yperios Excellence
  • Polled bloodlines for every breed
  • Goat genetics.

Alison Dunphy, Synetics UK managing director, said: “As a company, we have built our reputation on value for money, without the overhead of expensive reps on the road, and we will continue with this business model under the Synetics UK banner.”

British breeders can access dairy and beef breeds through the company, including familiar European breeds such as Limousin, Charolais and Normande, and less mainstream lines of Bazadaise, Gascon, Parthenaise, Abondance and Tarentaise.
