Shearling ewe video sale star

A shearling ewe from the Grougfoot flock of John McKerrow, Linlithgow, topped a special video sale of Texel in-lamb ewes at 11,000gns when the breed society held its 30th anniversary celebrations at Crieff.


By Glenside Hot Shot and out of a Haddo Ever Ready dam, she traces back to a gimmer imported in 1977. The gimmer, in-lamb to the 18,000gns Haddo Kerfuffle, has a scheme index of 272 and was bought by Linda Mellin, North Yorks, who is establishing a new flock to run alongside husband John”s well-known Hull House Texels.


A gimmer from A Clark, Lesmahagow, realised 10,000gns to Margaret Lyon”s Milnbank flock. Sired by Doon Valley and out of a Tophill El Santo ewe, the gimmer was in-lamb to Watchknowe Kingfisher.


Heading for Renfrewshire with Laine Daff was a gimmer by the 88,000gns Claybury Istabraq consigned by John Forsyth. She was female champion at the Royal Highland Show and is in-lamb to the 13,000gns Castlecairn Keltic Star.


A gimmer from the Anglezarke flock of Lancs breeder Dr S Symes made 4200gns to Bruce Renwick, Kelso, while a 4000gns call from North Yorks breeder Margaret Perrings secured a gimmer from J and H Clark’s Garngour flock.
